Review-Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort on the Beautiful Coconut Coast

We’ve stayed at the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort located on the beautiful Coconut Coast in Kapa’a several times. Although it’s my goal to visit a wide variety of different accommodations, we keep coming back to the Sheraton Coconut Beach Resort because we love it so much.

When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was the coconut grove, then the amazing entrance. We could tell right away it was going to be a remarkable place.

The open air lobby is stunning! With multiple seating areas and a brightly lit Aloha sign, we felt welcome right away.

Location, Location, Location!

Being on the beautiful Coconut Coast in Kapa’a is the perfect location, centrally located for easy travel around the island as well as enjoying all Kapa’a has to offer.

Close to beaches, restaurants and shops, it’s a prime location that is close to pretty much everything you would need for a wonderful vacation.

Yes you will need a car to get around the island, but there are a few things nearby that you can walk to as well.

Rooms at the Sheraton Coconut Beach

To start off, the rooms at the Sheraton are very nice. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing but they’re comfy and have everything needed for a relaxing Kauai vacation.

These are the room types available:

  • Standard King
  • Standard Double Queen
  • Coconut Grove View King
  • Coconut Grove View Queen
  • Partial Ocean View King
  • Partial Ocean View Two Queen
  • Ocean View King
  • Ocean View Double Queen
  • Deluxe Oceanfront King
  • Deluxe Oceanfront Double Queen
  • One Bedroom Suite

We have stayed in both an Ocean View King room and an Ocean View Double Queen room. As we had our daughters with us our last trip, my photos are of the double queen room.

I love the art on the wall behind the beds, a painted ocean that screams relaxation. The lighting is great as well, it’s more than enough even when it’s dark out. There are lamps and reading lights on the headboard/wall, and then a light that is behind the headboard.

Believe it or not, the beds are super comfy! I usually hate hotel beds as I have a bad back (and now unfortunately after injuries last year, so do my husband and youngest daughter) and have a hard time getting comfortable. But I had no problem whatsoever sleeping in the beds at the Sheraton, I was able to sleep very restful and not have pain in the morning from the mattress.

Along with the two Queen beds, the room has a desk area with a lamp and chair, perfect if you bring your laptop and need to get a little work done.

The desk area is actually on the end of a long cabinet that also houses several drawers, the mini fridge, the TV and the coffee maker. Multi functional…I like it!

Between the beds there is a nightstand with a phone and plug ins to charge your phone and such.

There is an area with a chair, a small table and a lamp, perfect for reading or just hanging out.

The bathroom is adequate and the shower is stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

There is soap, lotion and even a hair dryer, which I appreciate as every hotel doesn’t have one and it saves me from having to pack one myself.

The closet is on the left side (or right, depending on which room you’re staying in) right when you enter the room. It has classic wood double doors and is good sized. There is also a safe available for use as well as an iron and ironing board.

The room also has a full sized mirror which got used a lot with three ladies in one room, ha ha!

And there is a nice rack made of wicker type material on the wall for hanging jackets and bags.

The room has air conditioning which we really appreciate. It can get a bit warm, and it’s nice to be able to set the room to a cooler temperature, especially for sleeping.

Last but certainly not least is the balcony, which comes with a view! Although small (unless you’re staying in a Deluxe Oceanfront Room or a One Bedroom Suite (SOMEDAY!) the balconies have two chairs and can seat two comfortably (although all four of us were able to stand outside to take photos).

The views were amazing!!

No matter which room you get, you will still have a view. You’ll either be looking at the pool area, palm trees or the parking lot, which if you look beyond, has an incredible view of the mountains.

Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort Amenities

This hotel has numerous amenities we enjoy. They are actually a big part of why we love it.

Pools at the Sheraton Kauai

That’s right, two pools! A kiddie pool which is great for just getting your feet wet and an infinity pool for swimming and lounging. There are multiple places to sit from outdoor furniture to lounge chairs, including lounge chairs right in the pool!

They also they have a decent sized hot tub, and towels are provided.

Being the Crooked Surf Restaurant is literally poolside, there are a number of tables and chairs close to the pool as well. And one of the best things is that you can see the ocean from both the pool and hot tub.

Multiple Restaurants

The Crooked Surf- Salads, sandwiches, burgers and more served poolside. And the absolute best drink I’ve ever had in my life, a Makaleha (Malibu rum, Creme de Banana, Melon Liqueur, Banana Puree, Vanilla Ice Mild Blended). Seriously, BEST DRINK EVER.

Fire Hen– Serving up the best chicken wings, tenders and sandwiches and amazing dipping sauce. Get a side of sweet potato or parmesan garlic fries, you won’t be disappointed.

Moa Moa Hawaiian Fishhouse– An upscale seafood restaurant featuring Pacific Island cuisine. It is open to the outside pool area and has a wonderful view of the ocean. Open dinner only from 5:30-9pm.

Daybreak Restaurant- Located in the same space as Moa Moa, Daybreak Restaurant is serving up breakfast from 6-10am. Their Kauai Paradise Pancakes are supposed to be really good. We tried the daily breakfast buffet once and were not big fans. It wasn’t terrible, but it was just okay. To be fair we would definitely give it another try as this was several years ago. They do always seem to be very busy in the morning.

First Light Coffee and Juice Bar– Our go-to stop every morning where we grab our coffee and head down to the beach. Actually one of our favorite things about the resort is that it has a coffee bar on site. The ladies who work there are so sweet, and they make our drinks with love. Some actually remember us from visit to visit and we always look forward to seeing them (shoutout to our girl Priscilla!).

Fitness Center

If spending time at the gym is your thing, the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort has a nice fitness center. Or if you’re like me, you can walk the beautiful beach that’s right in front of the hotel. They also offer morning yoga that is open to anyone staying on the property.

Fire Hen Arcade

We absolutely love hanging out at the Fire Hen Arcade. With two pool tables, darts, a foosball table an our favorite, shuffleboard, there’s always something to do. There are also several arcade video games. Fun for the whole family.

Sheraton Coconut Beach Luau

Experience an authentic Hawaiian Luau in an open air pavilion with stunning views of the ocean. At Luau Ka Hikina you’ll get welcome drinks, buffet dinner and a live Polynesian show. Learn more about Kauai luaus here.

Free Beach Gear

You can check out beach chairs and umbrellas daily and towels as well.

Corner Store

Okay so it’s not as much a store as a little corner section of the lobby, but you’ll find a variety of snacks, drinks and other essentials that you can grab if you don’t feel like leaving the property.

Microwave and Ice Maker

Although not in the room, there is a microwave and ice maker available for use.
