Coconut Marketplace Restaurants-Amazing Food You Need to Try
If you’re on the hunt for good eats in Kauai, Coconut Marketplace Restaurants should definitely be on your list of places to try!
Coconut Marketplace is located in Kapa’a, HI and is what hubby and I like to call our “home away from home.” It’s an open air market that has shops and restaurants, and is one of the first places we stopped at on our first trip to Kauai. Let me just say it’s delightful! Since we stayed close by, we wound up spending a lot of time there and had several meals during our visit.

Now it’s a place we keep returning to every time we come to Kauai. The shops are nice, but we really love the food. It’s wonderful because there are such a variety of options, there’s really something for everyone.
One of the best parts is that every place doesn’t have indoor seating (although a few do), but instead there are tables outdoors around the entire marketplace. This is perfect when you’re traveling with multiple people, especially if they have different tastes. No need to argue about where to eat, head to Coconut Marketplace restaurants where everyone can get something different!

Restaurants in Coconut Marketplace
Chicken in a Barrel has a location at the Coconut Marketplace in Kapa’a as well as three other spots on the island. They offer chicken, ribs, pulled pork and pulled beef, fries, chili, mac salad and more. Their sweet potato fries are to die for!
What I really love about Chicken in a Barrel is their mission: Owner and Founder Mike Pierce opened his establishments with a clear purpose: to share his passion for great food and spread the love of God. His team is dedicated to excellence while holding a strong commitment to family values.
This is a definite must try on your next trip to Kauai!

Sushi Bushido isn’t your average sushi bar. They offer exquisite Japanese cuisine that includes teriyaki entrees, tempura dishes, specialty salads and of course, fresh sushi! Thursday through Saturday they have live music or Karaoke and are open late for happy hour.
Although I’m personally not a fan of sushi, my family loves it. Unfortunately we haven’t had a chance to try out Sushi Bushido as of yet, but it’s on our list to try out next time. I’m looking forward to trying the teriyaki chicken. They have a large menu with tons of options.

Coconut Thai & Chinese Cuisine has a variety of dining options including vegetable dishes, noodles & fried rice, soups & salads, and many more Thai and Chinese dishes.
Hubby got sweet and sour chicken which he said was decent. To be fair, although hubby likes Chinese food we are not Thai food fans, so we didn’t try out much on the menu. It’s conveniently located in Coconut Marketplace so I would highly suggest trying them out if that type of food appeals to you.

Hibiscus Sweet gelato and Cafe is a must-do if you love fresh fruit and yummy food! They are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and desert. Enjoy breakfast waffles, pancakes, flatbread and wraps, gelato, coffee, and drinks.
I got the classic pancake stack and although it was very different from what I expected, it was fresh, light, and tasted healthy. The strawberry limeade was yummy. We will definitely be stopping at Coconut Marketplace in Kauai again when we bring my daughters so they can try it out as well.

Island Country Markets – Located inside the ABC Store at Coconut Marketplace, this place is a true gem. We eat here every single trip, usually several times. They have so many options I don’t think we will ever run out of things to try!

There truly is something for everyone. They have premade meals if you’re looking to grab and go, and they also prepare orders fresh at their full service deli. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all options here, with everything from omelets and spam Musubi to coconut shrimp, sandwiches and wraps.
Take a look at a few of the meals we enjoyed there in the photos below.

Give them a try if you’re in the area, I guarantee you won’t regret it!

Jo Jo’s Shave Ice has three locations on Kauai to serve you, one being at the Coconut Marketplace. Their shave ice is delicious! Not only do they make all their own syrups, they also make their cream toppings in house. Choose between vanilla or macadamia nut ice cream to add to the bottom of your shave ice. Flavors such as Banana Split, Haupia Special and my favorite, Berry Berry!

Take a look at Jo Jo’s Shave Ice Menu and decide for yourself what looks good.
When you buy from Jo Jo’s Shave Ice you’re supporting the Makanalani Camp located on the North Shore. Their mission is to allow Hawaiian kids to experience the love of God at this life-changing camp on their 130 acre farm, free of charge. You can learn more about Makanalani Kauai here.

Bobby V’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria is my favorite place to get pizza on the island. In fact, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve eaten there. Yes, it’s THAT GOOD.

They’ve been serving up authentic Italian dishes since 2009, everything from pizza and pasta to salads and sandwiches. In my youngest daughter’s words, “their chicken pesto sandwich changed my life!”
Check out some of the yummy favorites we enjoyed in the pics below!

Bobby V’s recently expanded and added BV’s Bourbon & Ale House which has a wide variety of different items on their bar menu. Plates ranging from teriyaki chicken, filet mignon, fish and chips (my hubby’s favorite) to craft burgers and hot dogs.
This is one of the Coconut Marketplace restaurants you definitely don’t want to miss!

Coconut Marketplace Farmers Market– even though this isn’t a restaurant it gets honorable mention because it’s a great place to grab some good fruit if you’re hungry for a snack. The local Farmers’ Market at Coconut Marketplace in Kapa’a takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-1pm in the front parking lot.
