Stay in Beautiful Cottages, Bungalows & Villas on Kauai

There are a variety of cottages, bungalows and villas for rent on Kauai, but maybe you’re not sure you want to rent one. I mean, are there benefits of staying in a bungalow or cottage over a hotel, and if so, what are they?

I say no matter where you stay on Kauai, you’ve made the right decision because the island is breathtaking. But when you’re traveling far away from home, you definitely want to make sure you have everything you’re used to, including accommodations that meet your needs.

Benefits of Staying in a Cottage, Bungalow, or Villa

Space

This one is a no brainer, a stand alone home or villa will almost always have more space than a single hotel room.

Flexibility

Sometimes you can find a property that offers a flexible check-in or check-out time.

Privacy

Not having anyone walking outside your hotel room door is a big perk for renting a stand alone property. Often cottages, bungalows and villas can be in more secluded locations, thus offering even more privacy.

Save Money

You may be able to actually save money by staying in a cottage, bungalow or villa, especially if you’re bringing a large party. The more people who split the cost, the more affordable your stay becomes! There are also typically no daily resort fees and free parking.

Kitchen Facilities

This one is huge for some people, and it kind of goes along with the point above about saving money too. If you cook some of your own meals it will cost you less than dining out every meal. Kauai has lots of yummy food that is premade but does need to be heated. Many hotels don’t have microwaves, so having a microwave and a stove gives you way more dining options. It also makes it easy to reheat your leftover dinner for lunch the next day, saving you even more cash.

Where to Find Beautiful Cottages, Bungalows & Villas on Kauai

Kauai Cove Cottages invite you to escape reality and experience the magic that Kauai has to offer. Sounds good to me!

They offer three different cottages: the Plumeria Cottage and the Hibiscus Cottage which are located on a quiet lane in Poipu beach. And the Pool cottage which is located close by. Each cottage has a Queen bamboo canopy bed, gas BBQ grill and a nice patio area. These cottages are all within walking distance to wonderful restaurants and fun shopping, as well as breathtaking beaches.

With a guest limit of two, all three of these Kauai cottages are perfect for a honeymoon, anniversary or romantic retreat. I can’t wait to visit!

My Kauai Cottage, otherwise known as Hake Kokio, is a magical romantic vacation getaway located on Kauai’s North Shore in Kilauea Farms. The open floor design allows you to see the lush tropical gardens outside. The unit is updated and has a covered lanai and deck chairs, a dining set and a hot tub.

Explore the gardens where you’ll find tropical fruit trees, flowering plants, hibiscus, palm trees, and coconuts on the ground. The town of Kilauea is a five minute drive, where you’ll discover outstanding food and excellent shopping. Of course you’re never far from an amazing beach on Kauai no matter where you stay, and this cottage is no exception.

This is one cottage I’m really looking forward to visiting!

Aloha Cottages are located in my absolutely favorite spot on the Island, right across from Fuji beach in Kapa’a. I have personally walked this neighborhood and let me tell you, if I could stay anywhere, it would be in this area. I’m absolutely in love with it and hoping I will have the chance to review this property soon!

The Sunrise Cottage is a 3 bedroom 2 bath vintage cottage that accommodates up to six people. There is a vast list of amenities, but the best one by far is the location. Ocean views all day long!

You will also find an outdoor shower, washer & dryer, a well equipped kitchen and ceiling fans throughout the cottage.

The Moonview cottage is located behind the Sunrise Cottage and is just perfect for two people. Items like boogie boards, coolers, beach chairs and umbrellas are included in your stay here. Newly remodeled, there’s an outdoor courtyard with a propane grill (shared with the Sunrise Cottage), an Ocean view lanai and off street parking.

Last but not least, Waimea Plantation Cottages are a collection of rustic cottages that have been lovingly restored. Located on 43 stunning ocean front acres on Kauai’s West side, there are 59 one to five bedroom authentic, heritage plantation homes available.

These homes have full kitchens, private lanais, WiFi and TVs with DVD players. On the remote property you will also find a pool, hammocks and plenty of lawn space for games or just relaxing. These cottages would be perfect for a family vacation and are definitely on my list of places to stay!

Choosing a Villa

A villa might be right for your needs if you have a large party. Kauai has luxurious villas that are elegantly furnished, sometimes containing locally made products and furnishings. Some are even designed and decorated to give you a more authentic Hawaiian experience.

The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas have studio, one or two bedroom units. There are three different dining establishments on site, with many restaurants nearby. Choose to swim in one of the four heated pools, or take a relaxing soak in the hot tub.

You’ll find a workout fitness studio, jogging trails, and massage services available.

The Villas at Poipu Kai is Kauai’s premier boutique resort located on the south shore that offers 3-4 bedroom poolside villas and 2-5 bedroom garden villas. With plantation style decor and furnishings that include hardwood flooring, natural stone bathrooms and large lanais, you’ll get to experience a relaxing atmosphere that showcases the beauty of the island.

From a private pool and beach access to a gym and tennis courts, they offer amenities that cater to every lifestyle! These villas are for sure considered luxury, but I for one wouldn’t mind splurging at all to stay here. They look amazing!

If you’re not sure if you want a cottage, bungalow or villa, check out The Lodge at Kukui’ula. This place has it all! From one to three bedroom bungalows to two or three bedroom cottages, even all the way up to four bedroom villas, space will not be an issue here.

There are way too many amenities to list but just to name a few: lawn games, golf, tennis, pickleball, basketball, fishing, a spa, and even their own farm! This place is definitely on my upcoming list of places to stay on Kauai!
