I have to tell you, the North Shore of Kauai is a magical place! Everything is lush and green. The trees and flowers are gorgeous, and you can see the beauty in everything. Even when you’re shopping!

Between Princeville, Hanalei and Kilauea, there is definitely no shortage of fabulous and fun places to shop!

Where to shop in Princeville, Kauai

The main place to shop is the Princeville Shopping Center. It’s a nice outdoor mall that has everything from a hardware store and bank to a dentist and post office.

There are a variety of shops including apparel, accessories, gift, art and specialty items.

Strolling main street is probably the most popular thing to do, where you’ll find a wide variety of shops. But there are also shopping centers in Kapa’a that have a few stores you might want to check out as well.

Where to Shop in Lihue

Some of the best places to shop on Kauai are located in Lihue. Not only do they have the stores you’re familiar with from the mainland like Target, Walmart and Costco, but also local shops and family owned businesses.

Kauai’s largest shopping mall is Kukui Grove, an open air shopping center featuring over 55 shops and restaurants. We’ve listed some below that we think visitors would enjoy.

Shopping Kauai South Shore

Finding places to shop on the South Shore of Kauai is not only easy, but it’s super fun. Go back in time when you visit Old Koloa Town, or visit the Shops at Kukui’ula for the best luxury shopping in Kauai. Then there’s Poipu Shopping Village, a lovely outdoor mall with delightful shops.

We had such an amazing time visiting Koloa. The restaurants, shops and the people are simply wonderful. To me, Koloa has a different feeling, not like other shopping centers on Kauai. Old Koloa Town is filled with such history.

And the up and coming Koloa Village has such a relaxed vibe to it. Even though it was still partially under construction when we visited, there were some really neat shops that we enjoyed checking out.

Where to shop in Poipu, Kauai

So for us, The Shops at Kukui’ula really felt like luxury shopping in Kauai. Which, although not a bad thing, it’s just not our vibe. We went in a few stores there but didn’t stay too long.

When we brought our daughters on a trip, we stopped by Poipu Shopping Village and really liked it. It was relaxed, kind of a typical mall only in the most beautiful place on earth, Kauai. I would definitely recommend checking out both spots and see which you prefer.

Shopping West Side of Kauai

Although the West Side of Kauai might not have as many places to shop, there are some really unique stores. While some sell regular Hawaiian souvenirs, others sell locally made products that you can only get in Kauai. Visit Kalaheo, Hanapepe and Waimea and feel the small town vibe while browsing the shops. It’s truly amazing.

We were able to visit the Kauai Coffee Company, which was amazing. Plus I am now officially addicted to their coffee and have it shipped to our house on the mainland every month.

I haven’t yet stopped at Warehouse 3540, so this is definitely on my to-do list for next trip. It looks so cool!

Hanapepe, also known as Kauai’s biggest little town, is filled with history and charm. Stroll main street, browse the shops and experience island culture. Stop into some of the shops below to check out their products and say hi!

Where to Grocery Shop on Kauai

Grocery shopping on Kauai may or may not be something you’ll do much of, depending on a couple factors: Where you’re staying and whether or not you like to cook on your vacation.

Many people do come to Kauai and rent condos, cottages and houses. Being that they usually come with full kitchens, most people who stay at these types of accommodations do at least some cooking. So giving options for grocery shopping will hopefully be helpful.

  • Hanapepe: Big Save Market.
  • Waimea: Big Save Market.

Farmer’s Markets

Other than grocery stores, farmer’s markets are another great place to shop for food, especially fresh fruit. You can also find pastries and baked goods, nuts, vegetables and more.
