Where to Find the Best Sushi on Kauai

The best sushi on Kauai can be found all over the island. In fact, I didn’t realize how many sushi places there actually are on Kauai until I started writing this post.

Oh sure, I knew about a handful that we tried or knew we wanted to try and just never got the chance. But there are way more sushi restaurants on Kauai than I thought.

For starters, you might be thinking does Hawaii have good sushi? My answer to that is a resounding YES!

Although there are many sushi places we haven’t tried, the ones we have were absolutely delicious!

I do recommend checking hours before heading to try one of these sushi restaurants, especially if you’re coming from another part of the island, as hours are always subject to change.

So without further ado, here’s where you can find the best sushi on Kauai.

Sushi in Lihue Kauai

Kauai Sushi Station

You’ll find Kauai Sushi Station right across the street from the Costco gas station. But the food there is definitely not gas station quality! It’s fresh, fancy and delicious!

Sushi Blue Wave

Serving both Dry-Aged and Wet-Aged sushi, Sushi Blue Wave is a unique Japanese-owned restaurant in Lihue. Learn more about their process of Dry-Aging and Wet-Aging sushi on their website.

Big Monster Sushi & Thai

With three locations, Big Monster Sushi is quite popular with visitors and locals alike. Located in Lihue is their restaurant, Big Monster Sushi & Thai that focuses on bringing farm and ocean to table with every bite.

Royal Lanai Sushi & Spirits

Located at the Royal Sonesta Kauai Resort, this popular sushi spot isn’t just for hotel guests…all are welcome to dine!

You’ll find the House of Sushi Food truck conveniently located in the food truck area across from Harbor Mall. They offer fresh sushi and Hawaiian Poke bowls.

Lawai’a Fish Co.

While Lawai’a Fish Co. primarily offers locally sourced seafood including poke and a wide variety of plate lunch options, they also have sushi. This locally owned business uses their own family recipes to create high quality dishes and as well as grab and go items.

Konohiki Seafoods

Although Konohiki Seafoods specializes in seafood and Hawaiian desserts, they offer sushi as well. Their take out only options make it super convenient to grab your food and head down to your favorite beach.

With four different restaurants on the island, Kenji is everywhere and one of our favorites. While hubby and I love their burgers, my daughters absolutely love their sushi burritos!

Next door to Big Save Market in Kapa’a is another Big Monster sushi place on Kauai. Yes they have Thai food as well as their delicious sushi dishes.

Superhero Sushi Food Truck

This food truck offers sushi and poke during lunch and dinner hours. They recently moved to a new location. They also have a second truck, Superhero Sushi and Thai Food, that travels to events all over the island.

Japanese Grandma’s Cafe

My daughters really enjoyed the sushi at Big Monster Sushi in Koloa. They are located next to the Koloa Neighborhood Center and their food is amazing!

Best Sushi in Kilauea

Sushi Girl Kauai

You’ll find this sushi food truck in the Kong Lung historic market center. Their sushi is made to order and gluten free.

Kenji

Last but not least, the final Kenji location is in Kilauea. So basically you can enjoy their sushi burritos almost anywhere on the island!
